I had missed many hours from the museum last week while I was working crazily on the collaboration project with musicians from New York Classical Symphony Ensemble. The performance (music + art) was on Thursday night and I was still working on the final digital file to turn in in the morning of the very Thursday.
Anyway, the show was quite successful, though I still have a lot to rework on, it’s time to catch up with the work I missed. On top of that, the museum was closed on Monday for Columbus day, so it added another hours to catch up (though I loved the free Monday!!!).
So…I was working all day today at the museum. Piles of papers welcomed me in the morning and by the late afternoon, my eyes were almost popping out and my head ached. So many papers~!!!!! Geez.. Mountains of papers and rivers of folder files. I’ve been enjoying working at the museum office working for the museum publications, though some of my artist friends could think it is too mundane time to time. However, not very much today when I had to deal with so many digital files and endless stream of papers. Still, by the end of this week, I would catch up and it would slow down just a little bit next week.

When I have an artist’s block, and have been just staring at the drawing for hours (or for days), sometimes a solution actually comes to my mind. So sadly though, easy solution isn’t so much a good solution, mostly. That’s the timing I should admit that the solution I came up with after a long time isn’t something I should go by, I just should suffer a little more until the next solution comes. That is really unbearable time because I just want to apply the solution I came up with and get it over with. How much you could endure might be the factor to decide how good artist you are. Suffering isn’t always painful though if you know after all that time, you would be really happy with the result.

Jellyfish was the second solution I came up with so far and I think I’m going to go with it. I’m not sure if I endured enough to get a right solution. That is another factor to decide if one is good artist or not, just to know if the solution is right nor not. So head-aching!!!!

I realized more than half of the residents of my household find my room a napping sanctuary, whatever the reason might be. Sometimes, as a result, all the residents of this household end up napping altogether in the same room. Well, not bad.

Did the very first print of Japanese woodblock. It’s so simple, it’s not easy. Edges came out all chipped and ink was excessive on the edges. Still, I enjoyed. Later on I smoothed out the edges and printed couple more times. Came out smoother, but still not so smooth ink spreading. I got to work on that.
Anyways, draw some extra lines on the very first print I pulled today. Happy Black Cat. I don’t know how much art would reflect what artist feels, but I’m actually not that happy as the Happy Black Cat. In the meantime, however, printmaking does make me happy and relaxed. I will live at the printmaking workshop as soon as I finish my current project. That will make me happier.

1.Sometimes I wonder, without the beverage called coffee, how would have I ever met all these people and talked and got to know them. Coffee isn’t just a beverage. It is a bridge, medium, relationship softener, excuse for a break and rest, one of the most wonderful thing of life.
2.Bitter sweet life, Painfully delicious coffee.Late night iced coffee on the rooftop.

Around 9pm, subway is quiet. Most of people in the train are on their way home after a long day of work, or school, or a dinner with friends. It’s not as late as close to midnight when people after a few drinks are giggling and chatting all excited. It’s not as packed as around 7pm when commuters are heading back home for dinner.
A lady was standing close to the door holding a pole. Couldn’t help notice her canvas bag with a bouquet of beautiful red roses, and a small card sticking out saying Happy Birthday, Nilsa!
I said inside quietly, Happy Birthday, Nilsa.

Though she does not look that comfy, Horang insists on squeezing herself into a small cardboard box. She loves boxes so much, I’ve been keeping these empty cardboard boxes in my room. Every Wednesday, when we take the recyclables out, I think about throwing those boxes away. But when I look at Horang’s happy and satisfied face in the box, I just have to keep them in the room.
